The Olenick Diversity Philosophy

The Olenick Diversity Team’s mission is to incorporate inclusive practices into our company policy, to recruit and retain a workforce that is representative of the diverse communities our clients serve, and to build upon our Veteran-Owned and Diversity Supplier designations.

We reach these objectives through community outreach and mentorship opportunities, the promotion of an inclusive corporate culture, and the support of our strategic corporate partnerships and campaigns.

We focus on the continued advancement of women and minorities in the field of technology, and the development and inclusion of veterans of the military and participants of our First Rung Initiative.

First Rung Initiative

The First Rung Initiative is a cornerstone of our Diversity Program. The foundation of the program was conceived by two realizations that came about after 20 years in the field of technology. First, we recognized that qualified and motivated candidates are often overlooked during the recruiting and hiring process due to the lack of educational requirements. The second was we saw that software testing principles and best practices are highly teachable skills given the right instructor and the right student.

From these observances, the First Rung Initiative was born. We provide on-the-job training and mentoring that is necessary for gaining the proficiencies of entry-level software testing positions. We expose participants to different career paths in technology to match their talents and passions with their target roles. The key is getting them into a real-world work environment and gaining an understanding of what is possible – putting them on the “First Rung” of the ladder of a professional career.

If you have not had the opportunity to receive a four-year degree from a college or university, have participated in professional development training programs, or perhaps have done the honor of serving in the branch of our US military – the First Rung Initiative may be the path towards finding your career. Olenick also offers a Tuition Reimbursement Program to support employees looking to pursue or finish an advanced degree.
